How Does the Super Lawyers Selection Process Work?
Super Lawyers uses a patented, multiphase selection process designed to identify attorneys who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Candidates may enter the selection process through peer nominations or identification by the Super Lawyers research department. Attorneys may not nominate themselves.
The organization then conducts independent research and evaluates candidates using 12 indicators of professional achievement and peer recognition. These indicators include experience, representative clients, verdicts and settlements, honors, special licenses and certifications, professional activities, community service, scholarly work, and other notable accomplishments.
Candidates who receive the highest point totals also undergo a peer evaluation within their primary areas of practice. Following this process, no more than 5 percent of attorneys in each state are selected to the Super Lawyers list each year. Selection is conducted annually, meaning that an attorney must undergo a new evaluation for each year of recognition.
